Towing vendors
The tow companies you book pickups with, and what each one charges.
Towing vendors lists every tow company you book pickups with. Each one has a card with how to reach it and what it charges. When you book a pickup, you pick from this list, and your site works out the tow cost from the company's rates.
What's on a card
- The company's name, and a Flat rate badge when it charges one price for the whole tow.
- Its phone number and, if you entered one, its email. Tap either to call or write. The phone number is also where your site texts the company about its pickups.
- Its rates: a hookup fee and a charge per mile (per kilometre in Canada), or the flat rate.
Tow companies are texted as well as called: when a pickup is booked, moved or picked up, if those texts are on, and whenever your team texts one from a quote's Tow texts tab or from Messages. See Tow company texts.
The newest company is first. Add a vendor at the top opens a blank form. A card's pencil button edits the company, and its ... menu has Remove. Towing vendors explains every field.
Remove a company
Remove asks you to confirm: "Remove" and the company's name, then "It can't be picked for new pickups. Pickups already booked with it keep it." Press Remove, or Cancel to keep it.
A removed company can't be picked for new pickups, on a quote or on the Pickups board. Pickups already booked with it keep it, with the rates they were booked at, and its texts about those pickups still go to its number.
Nothing is lost from your records: the removal appears in Change history under Towing.
History at the top of the page, beside Add a vendor, opens Change history showing only towing changes: every company added, edited or removed, and who did it.
Who can change it
Only an Admin can add, edit or remove a company. Staff see the list read-only. If someone changed a company after you opened the page, removing it is refused and your site tells you who changed it. Reload and try again.
Staff don't see the pencil or the ... menu on a card, or Add a vendor.
With no companies yet, the page reads "No towing vendors yet" with Add a vendor under it. Until you add one, a quote's Pickup card has no company to pick, and the Pickups board says to add a tow company under Towing vendors first.
